How to Clean and Care for a Cap
Keep your cap’s shape, colour and embroidery looking fresh with gentle spot cleaning and proper storage.
Before cleaning
Read the care label first. Materials, trims and vintage cardboard visors can react differently to water. Test any cleaner on a small hidden area before treating the whole cap.
Spot-cleaning method
- Brush away loose dust with a clean, soft brush.
- Mix a small amount of mild detergent with cool water.
- Use a soft cloth to dab stained areas without soaking the cap.
- Wipe away detergent with a second damp cloth.
- Reshape the crown and air-dry away from direct sunlight or heat.
What to avoid
Do not put a structured cap in a tumble dryer. Avoid bleach, hot water and aggressive scrubbing, which can fade fabric, distort the visor or damage embroidery.
Storage
Store caps upright or on a form that supports the crown. Avoid stacking heavy items on top of them, and keep them away from prolonged direct sunlight.
